E.R.A.P. Manila electric tricycle project - Second batch of beneficiaries ready
The City of Manila is now being plied by electric tricycles. Called the E-Vehicle and Assistance Program (E.R.A.P) Manila Project, the program is part of Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada plan to uplift the lives of the city’s “poorest of the poor” by having a sustainable source of income and improve the community.
Last April 2017, Manila held the first program launch and formal turnover of 80 68VM electric tricycles to the first batch of driver-beneficiaries.BEMAC Electric Transportation Philippines Incorporated supplied the city of Manila 280 68VM electric tricycles.
The E-trike are set to a daily boundary price of Php150.00 payable upon four years and were subsidized with free electricity charges for one year. After which, the driver-beneficiaries will then be the sole owner of their electric tricycle.
The initial batch of electric tricycles is now operating within the third district of Manila and the very first ever terminal and charging station is located at San Lorenzo Ruiz Plaza.Now, Manila is building four more charging station to support the E.R.A.P. Manila Project of Electric Tricycle.
Thru the efforts of Manila City District IV Councilor Eduardo "BIMBO" V. Quintos three additional charging stationsare now being constructed at the Manila Motorpool, Antipolo Street, and at San Nicolas to further create awareness and implementation of the livelihood program.
At present, the city is very busy undertaking steps to expand the list of beneficiaries of this livelihood program. According to City Government of Manila, they target to complete the deployment and distribution for the rest of the e-trike units within the year.
